How many apps can you write in 2 weeks?
If you’re Boston-based startup JMA Web Technologies and the phone in question is Windows Phone 7, then the answer is six phone apps in two weeks. Not too shabby.
JMA’s founder and president, Joseph Anderson, had never developed for Windows Phone 7 before, but he wanted to expand his business into the mobile web space. He already knew Silverlight, C# and Visual Studio so developing for Windows Phone was a good fit. He developed his first six apps in 2 weeks and rounded out the month with a couple more!
What inspired you to found JMA Web Technologies?
Joseph: Coming from a long line of successful entrepreneurs, I always wanted to own a business. After working for a start-up software company, in the roles of sales, marketing, technical support and software development, for two and a half years, I felt I had the skills to start my own business. I have a passion for software, writing and testing code and I believed it would be a great fit to have my own software business.

Waltham company puts the Web to work
April 26, 2010
For businesses, there’s more to a Web site than a high-tech place to run advertisements. For businesses desiring updates, there’s more to consider than hiring a programmer.
This is where JMA Web Technologies comes into play. The Waltham IT company uses cutting edge software to a maximize a business’s exposure on the Web. It not only designs Web sites, it creates custom applications for Web sites, such as e-commerce and mass e-mail marketing systems.
Its initials stand for its founder and president, Joseph Michael Anderson. The Waltham resident incorporated the company in January. A graduate of Watertown High School and Ithaca College, where he received a bachelor of arts degree in technical writing, Anderson previously worked for a Newton software company in sales, technical support and software development.
He recently discussed JMA Technologies with Daily News staff writer Bob Tremblay.
QUESTION: Why was the business started?
ANSWER: I come from a long line of entrepreneurs and it was always my dream to own a business. My father owned a successful masonry company, which was handed down by his father. My other grandfather owned a successful paper producing company. My great-grandfather was a carpenter and my great-great grandfather was a farmer in Italy. After being in the work force for several years, I felt I had the experience to give a valuable service to the community.
